Supercontinuum generation in chalcogenide: application to gas spectroscopy in atmospheric band III

This thesis work aims to contribute to the development of new fiber sources emitting over a wide range of wavelengths in the IR, in particular to detect greenhouse gases in the mid-infrared range. Our spectroscopy results with nitrous oxide N2O and methane CH4 are obtained in band III. To achieve this, the generation of supercontinuum (SC) covering band III was made possible by using chalcogenide optical fibers, purified and free of highly toxic elements according to REACH regulations, in particular arsenic and antimony. Selective CO 2 Sorption Using Compartmentalized Coordination Polymers with Discrete Voids**

Carbon capture and storage with porous materials is one of the most promising technologies to minimize CO2 release into the atmosphere. Here, we report a family of compartmentalized coordination polymers (CCPs) capable of capturing gas molecules in a selective manner based on two novel tetrazole-based ligands. Crystal structures have been modelled theoretically under the Density Functional Theory (DFT) revealing the presence of discrete voids of 380 A3 . Under the looming climate crisis, aviation needs to find new solutions to cut its greenhouse gas emissions. One pathway towards zero emissions is the use of electric aircraft. While current battery technology will not allow for medium and long-haul flights at full capacity, on short-haul routes First Generation Electric Aircraft (FGEA) could play a significant role in the near future. Current FGEA under development could carry 9–19 passengers on distances of 400–1046 km by 2025. This study focuses on the emissions reduction potentials of FGEA in Finland. Conduit dynamics and post explosion degassing on Stromboli: A combined UV camera and numerical modeling treatment

Recent gas flux measurements have shown that Strombolian explosions are often followed by periods of elevated flux, or “gas codas,” with durations of order a minute. Here we present UV camera data from 200 events recorded at Stromboli volcano to constrain the nature of these codas for the first time, providing estimates for combined explosion plus coda SO2 masses of ≈18–225 kg. Numerical simulations of gas slug ascent show that substantial proportions of the initial gas mass can be distributed into a train of “daughter bubbles” released from the base of the slug, which we suggest, generate the codas, on bursting at the surface. Ārstēšanās metožu meklējumus smagu saslimšanu gadījumos cilvēki turpina arī tad, ja izārstēšanās prognozes nav augstas. Maģistra darbā problēmsituācija aplūkota no cerības skatpunkta. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot, ko nozīmē "uzturēt cerību" – kas ir iesaistīts cerības uzturēšanā, kā tas notiek un kādēļ cilvēki turpina cerēt. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina, ka cerība ir daļa no slimības kultūras, kas tiek apgūta ar ārstu, tuvinieku, mediju un citu iesaistīto palīdzību. Pētījumā apstiprināts, ka cerība ir pozīcija, kas tiek rūpīgi kopta, turklāt uzturēt cerību nozīmē ne tikai dziedināšanas gaidas, bet arī dzīvošanu, lai kādas būtu dziedināšanas izredzes. Anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactors for high strength wastewater treatment

A laboratory scale external anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactor (AnDMBR) treating high strength wastewater was operated to assess the effect of gas sparging velocity and organic loading rate on removal efficiency and dynamic membrane (DM) filtration characteristics. An increase in gas sparging velocity (GSV) results in a decrease in DM filtration resistance. DM or cake formation was identified as the main contribution to the total filtration resistance. Over 99% COD removal was obtained in the study regardless of the GSV. The results showed that the DM formation process proceeded until a stable cake layer thickness was reached. Olgas Jeršovas bakalaura darba tēma ir “Dzīves jēgas un orientācijas uz nākotni dzimumatšķirības un savstarpējas saistības jauniešiem no 18 līdz 35 gadiem.” Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt vai pastāv dzimumatšķirības dzīves jēgas esamības un dzīves jēgas meklējumos un kā nākotnes orientācijas saistītas ar dzīves jēgas esamību un meklējumu. Pētījuma piedalījās 60 respondenti no 18 līdz 35 gadiem (30 vīrieši, M=25.53 un 30 sievietes, M=25.97).
